The Book Bond SOLO Review

The Book Bond SOLO Review
June 4, 2014- The Book Bond is a great Bond Blog.  They recently published a great review of the novel, SOLO by William Boyd, now available in paperback.

BOOK BOND REVIEW: SOLO is the thinking man's OO7

Let's start by talking about the James Bond movies.

Bond movies can be stupid. Gloriously, magnificently, stupid. This is not a criticism. Stupid can be fun. Stupid sells! But in recent years we've seen that Bond movies can also be smart. With the arrival of Daniel Craig, we now have Bond movies rooted as much in character as formula action. And it's amazing how well that has worked out. How many billions has Skyfall made so far?

I can’t think of a bad time or place for listening to any of Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels… Any of them will have you driving in circles rather than arrive at your destination.

"Taken" Star Passed On Bond Role

"Taken" Star Passed On Bond Role

March 1, 2014-  Acclaimed actor and action hero, Liam Neeson, revealed in an interview this week that he was offered and rejected the role of the world's most famous secret agent, James Bond in the 1990's.   He says he was "heavily courted", among other actors, in a field that ultimately led to Pierce Brosnan's assumption of the role.  Neeson indicated he turned down the role as a concession to his future bride, Natasha Richardson, now deceased, who had reservations about his taking the role.  It is hard to question a man's commitment to "family first", although his success as an action star in such film's as Taken, and Non-Stop is an strong indicator that he would have been a formidable Bond.
